The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year.
The Solstices have always been my favorite celebrations – the celebration of light. In Scandinavia, St. Lucia celebrates the end of the long winter nights.
Pause and reflection
Winter is a time of going within. In Chinese medicine, winter is a time of introspection, hibernation, of going within to discover hidden aspects of ourselves. In the five elements, it is associated with water. Water is where the hidden aspects of ourselves move. We don’t literally hibernate, but we do spend more time indoors in the winter. Make a cup of your favorite tea, take some time and reflect upon what you’ve accomplished over the year. Think about where you were a year ago, and what lessons you’ve learned this year. It’s a good time to release old patterns, paradigms, and behaviors as we prepare for the New Year.
The light of the world reflects through us. As we prepare for the New Year, think about where can I hold more light? This is done by releasing emotional wounds that hold a low vibe. Think about the following questions:
Who can I forgive?
What emotions can I release?
How can I love more?
Who needs the support of my light?
It is as simple as creating a sacred ritual everyday where we listen to motivational messages, meditating, exercising, reading inspirational materials, and anything else that helps us hold light.
Happy Solstice! Sending waves of LOVE to you ALL!!!
